Isadora Duncan
Chloe is a performer and dancing is a part of her life. She is an admirer of Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance, the quintessential free sprit and an early feminist. There is so much about Isadora Duncan that Chloe relates to. In modern times there are Isadora dance studios where dancers learn her technique. These dancers will dance choreographies passed down from Isadora and they also create new choreographies using the Duncan technique. One evening Chloe dances alone in the moonlight. She performs a dance in the Isadora style. Contact Improv
Chloe's friends regress to banal small talk around a campfire in the yard one night. Uninterested, Chloe seizes the moment to entice them into a contact improv dance experience. Contact improv is a free form interactive dance approach in which people find themselves and feel connection to others. It was started in 1972 by Steve Paxton. Lead and follow is traded back and forth between dancers in ongoing negotiations of movement. Momentum and gravity are their partners in the stream of discovery. There are contact Improv communities around the world.
